Milwaukee Adds New M18 Inflator 2848-20

Milwaukee just announced a new cordless tire inflator as part of their M18 cordless 18 volt platform with the M18 inflator model 2848-20.

This isnt Milwaukees first cordless battery powered inflator as they already had a M12 unit with the M12 compact inflator 2475-21XC but now theyve added a tire inflator for those in the M18 system. The M18 inflator is larger in size than its M12 counterpart and according to Milwaukee they say that their inflator is the fastest 18V inflator on the market. This unit can also top off an 84 cm light truck tire in less than a minute, according to Milwaukee. Thats faster than their M12 unit which said that it could top off a car tire in under a minute, but the M18 one ups the M12 unit by doing the same feat for a larger tire in the same time frame.

It has all the features that are standard on cordless inflators like the backlit LCD screen that shows current tire pressure. You can also dial and set the pressure you want, and the tool will fill up to the selected PSI. Then it will shut off automatically. Milwaukee calls this feature Truefill but its their trademarked marketing word for a feature that other brands already have. Milwaukee makes things interesting by offering presets that allow you to save up to four PSI settings. This is a great feature because I have the Dewalt 20V inflator and have used both of Ryobis 18V inflators in the past and it does get tedious when having to set the PSI every single time you use the unit. Although this is not a major issue for most people, it can be annoying to have to top up my high pressure roadbike multiple times per month. I would find the M18 inflator easier as presets could save me some time and hassle. Not much but for the professional, time is money. It is a braided exterior hose made of fabric and features a screw-on brass schraderchuck. There is also hose storage at the rear and built-in storage for the included accessories. Milwaukee claims that the tool has an internal cooling fan and fan to prolong its life.

Milwaukee’s M18 inflator does not have an onboard light, like the Dewalt20V. The Dewalt model has a light you can turn on which helps you use the tool at night and is handy when out on the side of a road and you have to change your tires in an emergency. Milwaukee does not have such a light, so they will hopefully add it to the next version of this inflator.

The Milwaukee M18 Inflator will be made available in April 2022. It will retail at a price of €18 per baretool.
